She is still a brat

Went out today to play with Cricket. She now plays hard to get. Glad she is in the round pen, I can work her with out catching her. Finally caught her and made her flex and stretch. She really does not like it, but does it. Then curried her, she is shedding sooo much. Can not wait till she is all shed out and I can see that pretty bay color of hers. She loved the brushing.

Left Chole the momma dog out of the puppy pen today. When I got home I let the puppies out to run like I always do and all they wanted to do was nurse. Chloe does not want to nurse them. I will put her in the pen with them tonight. She may not be happy. They may all be gone next Friday. Want to get them vaccinated and make sure they are eating well.

Mom's puppy is doing much better tonight. He is outside again with one other pup. She sold another one last night so just two left.

New Puppy Pics

I have a few more new pictures of my puppies and a couple of the one mom has left. Also a picture of the mom of the lab mixes. She also has one more pup left but he had a reaction to his vaccination given 2 weeks ago. He would not get up on his hind end on Monday. Mom brought him in the house, and I suggested making sure he was hydrated. She she offered him water and he drank also offered him canned puppy food and he ate. On Tuesday he was not any better and I noticed his eyes were very gooey. Mom said his ears were worse. She took him to the vet. She said one in a 100 pups of a over-reaction to the vaccination. His body was working overtime time trying to kill off the yuckies. Nothing could have been done to prevent it and it is not contagious. The goo from his ears was like multiple puss pockets. Just his body over working. Had a slight fever, but liver and kidneys were fine. If left untreated it could affect them. He is now on antibiotics twice a day for 7 days then once a day for 7 days. Oh and she said that he was not using his hind end because it hurt. So today he was still down, but mom would make him go out once in a while. He was very vocal, crying. But mom said at least he felt up to at least crying, but it is sad to listen to him. So hopefully he will get better soon.

Oh Boy Do I Need To Catch Up

So I really do not know where to start. I have 5 week old Queenland puppies. All three females, one blue with lots of darker marks, one blue that is very frosted only her ears are marked, and a red with only ear marks, and a spot around her tail. She is the wild one. Very active, but all three love people. Not so much into eating. I wish they would eat a little more because mom is having a hard time keeping up with them.

Now a little up date on Cricket. About two weeks ago, I really wanted to get Cricket out of the yearling pen. The colt in the pen was not being nice to the two fillies that were not his sister. One filly is his sister, and that was the only one he would leave alone. So I pull her out, and she was very ready to get out, walk her out to my mare who is due to foal in a couple weeks, open the gate start to walk in and see a huge blob of snot hanging out of her nose. So nope not putting her with a mare that is due to foal. So now a delima as to where to put her. The round pen is available, but did not want to tie it up so that I can work my two year old when I have time. I have a 12 X 12 box stall, but she has never been in there not sure how she would handle it. I go ahead and put her in the round pen. Also there is no shelter there and she has never been without shelter and appears to have a little cold. Well of course it POURS that night. I go out to feed the next morning and she looks like a drowned rat, and so sad. It was suppose to be raining all day, so I put her in the box stall, and put the pony blanket on her. It was the first time she had ever had a blanket on and it went over her head, closed front, and she did great. The picture was taken with my phone, so not the best quality.

Just as I thought though she did not like being in the box stall and not able to see anyone. She cried a lot. I left her in there for probably a week and then turned her back out. This time turned her out with the other yearling that was being picked on. Oh yeah and Cricket was turned out one day for a couple hours with the 2 year old mule, and she loved chasing the mule. The cow horse came out in her. So when I put Lilly in with her, she went right to chasing her. They settled down, but dad said Cricket was always a bully when it came to feeding. So Frank goes out to pet Cricket and she ran from him. I was shocked because that was not the way she normally was. So the next day I go out to mess with her and again she would not let me touch her. I thought this was weird, but started to chalk this up as being a bratty yearling. I lounger her to tire her out to catch her and I thought she was loping funny, but did not think much of it. Finally she stops, I put the halter over her nose and BAM! she blows up, rears, and falls to the side. So we go threw the whole process again. And again she does not want me to put the halter on. Something is wrong with my baby girl, but what, and I am freaking by now. I pull the other filly out. Cricket will not let me flex her neck. She was in pain. I get her to the box stall again and decided I will keep an eye on her. Took her temp, no temp. So thought it could not be that bad. Called the vet yesterday and she was scheduled to come out next Tuesday. Then decided to call the chiropractor, and he called me back within two minutes. He came out first thing this morning. Sure enough she was out of wack pretty bad. Worked on her for about 40 minutes and got her all fixed up. So much so that she was feeling much better and being a pistol. I put her back in the round pen. She ran like a fool. She felt so good. Got home after work and still she does not want me to catch her. This time I think she is just being a bratty yearling. Oh let the fun begin. Wile lounging her she would try to run over me. I love this girl, but I think she will be a little pistol. What I really like about her though is if she does not like something she will let you know, but let you win also. I hope she keeps this attitude.

So I will work on keeping my blog up to date as we may be having some changes happening around her, foals are due, and I have a 2 year old that needs to be broke.
